Baruti

Spyros Drosopoulos is the creative behind Baruti. His avant-garde perfumes are a reflection of the city of Amsterdam where he lives, with both its modern sensibilities and reverence for its artistic past.

"Making perfumes is a way of expressing myself and thus I think my work qualifies as art. Sometimes the message is evident, sometimes a little bit more obscured but I always speak to the connoisseur in everyone! So don't be surprised if you are surprised by what you smell, just trust your nose!"

Baruti is an independent artisan perfume brand dedicated to the "art" in perfumery. Founded by Spyros Drosopoulos all perfumes are created and blended in house. Meaning gunpowder in Greek Baruti, when used as an adjective refers to those with excessive character, bite and a certain edginess.

Baruti is for you! The perfume connoisseurs who want more than just a nice fragrance. It is for those who seek new experiences, food for their soul! Everything is here, attention to detail, depth, complexity, development, balance, and unending dryout.

"What I love about making perfumes is that it is both a technically challenging and a highly creative process in one. As a person I am what you call a "novelty seeker", I just love to explore. This reflects in my work as well, I always look for new materials, new combinations or twists to expand known and familiar themes.

This is what my dreams smell like
I make personal and immediate perfumes
Deceptively playful
Rooted in the unconscious
Perplexing the senses
Like kaleidoscopic explosions of beauty
They can blow you away."
Spyros (Amsterdam 2014)
