Black Flower Mexican Vanilla is a clean, rich and sensual fragrance without being too sweet and overpowering: difficult to achieve.
It was inspired by the Totonac people, who inhabit the East Coast of Mexico in the present-day state of Veracruz, and were the first to cultivate vanilla. According to Totonac mythology, the tropical orchid was born when Princess Xanat, forbidden by her father from marrying a mortal, fled to the forest with her lover. The lovers were captured and beheaded. Where their blood touched the ground, the vine of the tropical orchid grew.
Mexican Vanilla, one of three major types of vanilla (besides Bourbon Madagascar and Tahitian), is more subtle and woodsy with strong notes of cherry or a spicy nutmeg flavor.
V. Dave Dame, artist and the father of Jeffrey Dame, created the original art pieces for the labels and packaging of the scents.
